Know thyself. Marcus Aurelius 4.41

Marcus shares an observation from the Stoic master, Epictetus. Remember who you are! Remember that your true identity can be stated simply. Cast away the burden of self-complication and meet yourself honestly, plainly, without deception. 


Ψυχάριον εἶ βαστάζον νεκρόν, ὡς Ἐπίκτητος ἔλεγεν.


You are just a little breath bearing up a corpse, as Epictetus says.
